What to Expect

  • After your referral is received, our clinic staff will contact you with the details of your first appointment, including the date, time, and location. During your visit, you will meet members of our neurovascular care team who will review your medical history, imaging, and symptoms.
Depending on your condition, you may undergo additional imaging or assessments to help guide your treatment plan.

Your first appointment may take longer than follow-up visits, as we want to ensure you have time to ask questions and understand all available options. Follow-up visits are usually shorter (15–30 minutes).

  • Please bring the following items to help our team provide the most accurate and complete assessment:

    • Your health card (OHIP) or another government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport)

    • All relevant imaging results (CT, MRI, or angiography) provided on CD or USB by your referring physician or hospital

    • A list of all medications you are currently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements

    • Any medical devices or equipment you may need during your visit (for example, hearing aids, mobility aids, or oxygen)

    • Notes on any changes in your health or symptoms since your last appointment

    • Information about your family medical history, especially if any close relatives have had aneurysms, strokes, or other vascular conditions

    • The names and contact information of your other healthcare providers or hospitals involved in your care

    • A trusted friend or family member, if you would like support during your visit

    • A list of questions you would like to discuss with your care team

Bringing these items helps us make the most of your appointment and ensures your care plan is personalized to your unique health background.

  • Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for registration.
When you check in at the reception desk, you will be asked for your health card or ID. You may also be given a brief questionnaire to complete to help us understand your background and care needs. Completing this form is optional, but the information helps us ensure that all patients receive the best possible care.

Our team works hard to stay on schedule, but sometimes emergencies or unexpected delays may occur. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Before you leave, your care team will review your next steps — whether it’s scheduling a follow-up appointment, arranging imaging, or waiting for results. If anything is unclear, please ask. We are here to support you every step of the way.

  • It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed when learning about a brain aneurysm or upcoming procedure. Bringing questions can help you feel more confident and informed. Some questions you may want to ask include:

    • What type of aneurysm do I have?

    • What are my treatment options?

    • What are the benefits and risks of each option?

    • How urgent is treatment in my case?

    • What should I expect during and after the procedure?

    • What are the signs I should watch for that mean I need to seek medical attention?

    • How will my condition be monitored over time?

    • Who can I contact if I have questions after I leave the clinic?

Writing your questions down and bringing them with you ensures that you get the information you need to make informed decisions about your care.
